Aloha Kakahiaka

Good morning.

It is 7:40 am.

Will be leaving Arnott's Lodge soon and dipping tires in salt water along the Hilo Bay and then heading down Kalanianaole Street to Kamehameha Avenue. Then left onto Wainuenue Ave. Then continue uphill on Kaumana Drive to the Saddle Road.

Sean,

I saw you around 1:45 PM on Friday, heading uphill by mile 11 on Saddle Road, in the rain.

I stopped at the visitor station today and heard that you had gotten there at 2:00 AM (wow!) and after getting some sleep, were on your way to the summit. Sure enough, I passed you on my way up and on my way down, and you were making good progress - 3 miles up the dirt road last time I saw you.

I also called the visitor station tonight to ask how you were doing, and they told me that as of a couple hours ago, you were within a mile or so of the summit, which is excellent.

They ALSO told me that you had said you weren't going to stop 'til you got there.

I hope you'll be there very shortly, and I hope I and some others will get the chance to shake your hand tomorrow before you fly off anywhere!

Topped out at 11:45 Saturday night.
I am at Arnott's Lodge, at least till Tuesday morning. It is time to see Hawaii aside from the road right in front of my knees! Anyone who would like to socialise is very welcome. Plus I need to learn to start saying Aloha and stuff....
