Climbing, Skiing, Dog Walking and Generally Noticing that All of 2005 is Gone and Already 1/12 of 2006
Okay, February what? Feb 6? Monday? Okay, okay.
So two weeks ago I went to a climbing gym with another paraplegic guy and he was pretty impressive. I did manage more than one unplanned fall from eight or so feet up. Big crash mats made it safe. I wasn't sure it would be okay on the cripple-boy skinny legs until at least an hour of climbing and falling- but it worked out okay. Have to get back and try some more. I was shown plenty of interesting challenge not even five feet off the ground.
So one week ago I went skiing for the first time in sixteen years, first time ever outside the Northeast, first time on a mono-ski. Another local paraplegic got me out and got me set up. We did an afternoon run after the commute from Boulder to Breckinridge. There is an adaptive skiing program there. Turns out one of the upper staff was coaching (protecting and babying and teaching) me the next morning and invited me to some sort of week long camp thing back at Breckinridge next week. Hmmm....
So one day ago, well two days really, I had the dogs out and went back to Chataqua Park. I don't remember the road up to baseline being steep, being challenging. The gravel path in the park had been regraveled and was okay. When I got up top I decided I am not as fit as I was in October. Time to start thinking again about diet and activity- "muscle performance and recovery".
And the computer? And the cell phone? And the new glasses with no scratch on the left lens? Well, I toy with buying a computer and a few other things and see how quickly I can get the budget to turn obscene. And plus I don't commit. The cell phone? Procrastination seems like the proper path on that one, at least for now. The glasses? (and geez, what about the dentist appointment?) The glasses I like to pretend would be hard because I don't know my way around Boulder that well. Or is it because I usually don't leave the house till well past noon and I seldom have a plan aside from going to the library to look up addresses and phone numbers. and then make a better plan. Or maybe I just don't fell like sitting through a ten minute eye exam.
Vijay says go sea kayaking instead of rolling back up the Mount Washington Auto Road.
I say New Hampshire's Whites, Boulder's Foothills, some fourteener or other in Colorado, Yosemite in the summer, maybe Mauna Kea later. We shall see what does occur.
Minnnesota too. Minnesota soon. The Ant Farm, well actually the antFarm, awaits. More drawing, more reading, more writing. maybe some metal fabrication. Possible isolation, possible focus, possible fruition. We shall see.

Yeah, the fucking last paragraph to make your cue - oh well, I'm not a chooser; I'll take and wait. Minnesota in the last of eight.
Good news on the slopes.
Cheers and lovely,

Am I the only person who comments on this damn site? Where's L, T and the like?

Hi Sane,
g here, and hear, and there. I just gobbled a dish of sinnesota soul food - collards, sweet potatoes, red onions, portobellos, spicy sausage and, of course, garlic. It was a visual delight, and not so bad to eat, either.
All the future awaits.

PS: L, where are you - hanging on the snowy legend of NYC? Dude, you need to get where the sun don't cry when it's 40 below, daytime. Where's T?
I say briefly: Best! Useful information. Good job guys.
